  • You cannot have freedom "of" religion without also having the corresponding freedom to be free "from" religion. The two concepts are inseparable. And many of the founding fathers were indeed atheists or agnostic, including Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin.

  • I guess we won't have true separation of church and state until we have an invocation prayer said at a school graduation led by a Muslim who praises Allah, or until we have a governor who erects a statue of Buddah on the lawn of the capitol.

  • The debt crisis was caused by neither people making too much money nor by the government spending too much money (on "normal expenditures"). It was caused by the perfect storm of decreasing revenue through the Bush tax cuts coupled with war expenditures.

  • It's about time that people figured out that most of the cause of our current economic situation, (note that I did not say ALL), is money spent on overthrowing foreign governments and then remaining in their quagmires; the Bush tax cuts; and lax oversight of financial institutions prior to 2008.

  • While the November elections may have been (in part) about getting people in office who would control spending, there was no referendum in November on eviscerating the EPA and making generational alterations to the environment.

  • Or...maybe we'll see massive labor strikes by unions in a show of solidarity. All it would take to change the outcome would be for the teamsters to strike against Wisconsin and refuse to truck in, or out, any goods to or from the state until the governor recants.

  • I don't agree that the Democratic Senators were abandoning their constituents. Had they stayed in the state the whole time, this measure would have passed weeks ago without any fanfare.
